Wednesday 3 October 2007: Here in part two restoration we see the manifacture and fiting of new runing plates, new cab and bunker.

A view of all the runing plates cut and fitted. A view of the new runing plates, also the overhaled buffers and draw bars are fitted. Runing plate cut to size, drilled, and the holes cut out where the sand box and injector pipe work will go. Russell sands dowen the new running plates before priming. The second coat of primer going on, and also the angle irons that will hold the cab and bunker are in position. The new bunker, shes comeing on! The mobile heritage center where all the cutting and drilling of the running pates, cab and bunker was caried out. The only origanal part of the cab, the strengthening plate that holds the reversing leaver. Bottom cab side. Half cab! The top back of the cab. Back of cab and coal bunker complete. Alex and Russell happey now the cab is almost complete. The replica works plates we have had made painted and ready for fitting. Cab runing plates and coal bunker complet, and under coated. Once we have finished seting up our container as workshop and mess room we wiil fit the new cab roof.

The locomotive stands waiting for the crane to arrive The crane strips the locomotive for restoration to begin The crane now lifts the frames off its wheels The vertical boiler used to provide us with boiling hot water fired by ken from the heritage group The boiling hot water was then put through a jet wash One of many Sundays spent removing oil and grease The old rear buffer beam readey to be removed After a bit more work, more completed parts ready for fitting once the wheels are ready to go back in More building up with weld A new sheet of steel to replace the badly bent and rusty buffer beam Once the grease and oil was removed we had to build the back of the frames up with weld Welding complete, and grinding back has now began We then had the frames shot blasted and primed Undercoat going on Final drilling of the new rear buffer beam before fitting Group members Chris and Alex checking out the new buffer beam Now painted, they look lovely! New gusset plates have been made and are now being fitted by Andrew A view of the frames now fully gloss painted as some of the group fit the new gusset plates Group member Russell admires the reconditoned buffer shells after fitting
